Plain-English summary
Daimler Vans USA, LLC is recalling certain 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (Platform 907) vehicles equipped with high-beam assist. The affected vehicles include the 2019 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500, as well as the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500.
A software error in the control unit may prevent the driver from being able to switch off the high beams when intended. Being unable to turn off the high beams may result in oncoming traffic being blinded by the vehicle's lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Vans USA will notify owners, and Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealers will update the control unit software free of charge. The recall began on June 14, 2019. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
