International CV brake pressure sensor can leak fluid causing fire
International is recalling certain 2019-2025 CV vehicles because the brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the pressure switch and short circuit. Owners are advised to park outside until repaired.
NHTSA safety advisory
Park this vehicle outside
NHTSA advises parking it away from buildings and other vehicles until the repair is done — the risk exists even when the vehicle is switched off.
This is the agency’s own advisory, not our assessment. Contact the manufacturer or a dealer, and see the official NHTSA notice for the current guidance.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: a brake pressure sensor physically leaking brake fluid is a failure within the braking system, and the resulting short can ignite while the vehicle is being driven.
Plain-English summary
International Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2019-2025 CV vehicles. About 12,004 units are potentially affected.
The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit.
NHTSA states that an electrical short in the brake pressure switch can overheat the circuit and increase the risk of a fire while driving or parked.
Until the recall repair is complete, owners are advised to park outside and away from structures. Dealers will replace the brake pressure switch and fuse harness free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected in September. Owners may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
