Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2025 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles due to a defect in the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. The software contains incorrect axle spacing parameters, which causes these vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, which governs Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles. The same defect affects certain 2024-2025 Western Star 49X models.

The incorrect parameters can decrease vehicle stability and braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Owner notification letters were mailed on March 22, 2024.
