Trucks and buses recalled over tie rod fasteners risking steering loss
Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain Freightliner, Western Star, FCCC and Thomas Built vehicles because the tie rod castle nut and cotter pin may be improperly installed. 343 units are affected.

The potential number of units affected is 343, under NHTSA campaign number 25V603000. The recalled component is the steering tie rod assembly.
The tie rod castle nut and cotter pin are the subject of the recall. DTNA states that a loss of vehicle steering control increases the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rod assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 10, 2025. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and refer to recall number D25R2.
