GMC Yukon and Other GM Vehicles with Transfer Case Defect

General Motors is recalling certain 2026 GMC Yukon, Sierra 1500, Yukon XL and other GM vehicles, as well as select 2015–2020 models, due to a missing component in the drivetrain transfer case that may cause wheel lockup without warning. The defect increases the risk of a crash.

A component missing from the transfer case may cause the front and/or rear wheels to lock up without warning to the driver. This lockup increases the risk of a crash.

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the remedy is completed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the transfer case assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 22, 2026.
