Ram ProMaster and Dodge Journey rearview cameras may not display properly

Chrysler is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ram ProMaster and 2019-2020 Dodge Journey vehicles because cracks in the microprocessor may stop the rearview camera image displaying properly.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: a rear visibility aid may not display correctly, but the vehicle retains control and propulsion and no incidents are recorded.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ram ProMaster and 2019-2020 Dodge Journey vehicles. About 219,577 units are potentially affected.

Cracks in the microprocessor may cause the vehicle's rearview camera image not to display properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".

NHTSA states that a rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the rearview camera free of charge. Interim notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed beginning September 30, 2025, and a second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. Owners may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
