Ram ProMaster rearview camera image may not display in reverse

Chrysler is recalling certain 2022-2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles because a software error in the security gateway module may prevent the rearview camera image displaying, failing FMVSS 111.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: a rear visibility aid may not display, but the vehicle retains control and propulsion and no incidents are recorded.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Ram ProMaster vehicles. About 235,640 units are potentially affected.

A software error in the security gateway module may cause the rearview camera image not to display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".

NHTSA states that a rearview image that does not display reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the security gateway module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 12, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
