Volvo rearview camera image may not display when reversing
Volvo is recalling certain 2021-2025 vehicles across the XC40, XC60, XC90, S60, S90, V60 and V90 ranges because the rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is in reverse.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: a rear visibility aid may not display while the vehicle retains control, braking and propulsion, and no incidents are recorded.
Plain-English summary
Volvo Car USA, LLC is recalling certain 2021-2025 XC40, 2022 V90, 2022-2024 C40 BEV, 2022-2025 S90, V90CC and XC60, 2023-2025 S60, V60, V60CC and XC90, and 2025 EC40 and EX40 vehicles. About 413,151 units are potentially affected.
The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".
NHTSA states that a rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
