Volvo EX30 seat belt warning chime may not sound as intended

Volvo is recalling certain 2025-2026 EX30 and 2026 EX30CC vehicles because the seat belt warning system may not activate the audible warning chime. This fails FMVSS 208.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the fault is confined to the reminder chime while the seat belt itself remains functional, and no incidents are recorded.

Plain-English summary

Volvo Car USA, LLC is recalling certain 2025-2026 EX30 and 2026 EX30CC vehicles. About 1,584 units are potentially affected.

The seat belt warning system may not activate the audible warning chime as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection".

NHTSA states that an audible warning chime that does not properly alert of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

Dealers will replace the terminals at the audio module connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 26, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-458-1552, referencing recall number R10365, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
