Lincoln seat belt warning chime may sound for less than four seconds
Ford is recalling certain 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator and Corsair vehicles with Revel Audio, previously repaired under 22V-953, because the unbelted warning chime may sound for under four seconds.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the seat belts and their pretensioners are unaffected and only the reminder chime is too short, so occupant protection is not lost.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with a Revel Audio System that were repaired incorrectly under recall 22V-953. About 4,442 units are potentially affected.
When the driver's seat belt is not buckled and the vehicle is started, the seat belt warning system may activate the audible warning chime for an insufficient amount of time of less than 4 seconds. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection".
NHTSA states that an audible warning chime that does not properly alert of an unbelted seat belt can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Dealers will update the audio control module software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 3, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall number 25C18, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
