Ford and Lincoln image module resets can disable rearview camera
Ford is recalling certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, Nautilus, Aviator and Explorer vehicles because the Image Processing Module A may reset unexpectedly, losing the rearview camera image and driver assistance features.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the losses are confined to the rearview camera and driver-assistance aids while the vehicle retains control, braking and propulsion.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2025 Lincoln Navigator, 2024-2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and 2025 Lincoln Aviator and Explorer vehicles. About 254,640 units are potentially affected.
The Image Processing Module A may experience multiple unexpected resets, resulting in loss of the rearview camera image and advanced driver assistance features, including pre-collision assist, lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring.
NHTSA states that loss of the rearview camera image and certain driver assistance features can reduce the driver's ability to detect hazards, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Image Processing Module A software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This is a phased campaign running from April to June 2026. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 13, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332, referencing recall number 26S21, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
