Tesla Model S and X may have an inoperative horn

Tesla is recalling certain 2021-2024 Model S and 2021-2025 Model X vehicles because an airbag with the incorrect horn pad may have been installed, preventing the horn from sounding.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: the airbag itself is unaffected and only the horn may not sound, so the driver loses a warning device rather than occupant protection.
