Honda CRF1100 Handlebar Switch Corrosion Disables Horn and Headlight Function

Honda is recalling certain 2020-2022 and 2024-2025 CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles due to handlebar switch corrosion that may disable the horn and headlight beam switching, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves loss of safety-critical functions (horn and headlight switching) that can increase crash risk, but no injuries have been reported. This fits the High category: risk-of-harm without reported injury.

Plain-English summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025 CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles. The left handlebar switch harness may corrode due to oxidation.

This corrosion can result in the loss of horn function or the ability to switch the headlight from low beam to high beam. The motorcycle would then fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108. Loss of horn and headlight beam switching increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Approximately 7,492 motorcycles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 20, 2026. You can verify if your motorcycle is affected by searching your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov.

Contact Honda's customer service at 1-866-784-1870 to schedule the recall remedy. Dealers will replace the left handlebar switch assembly free of charge.
