When the steering wheel or yoke is replaced, a different air bag model may have been installed that is not designed to work with the replacement steering component. If a crash occurs, the incompatible air bag could deploy incorrectly, increasing the risk of injury.

Owners should contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the air bag as necessary. Tesla has assigned this recall number SB-23-20-005. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 2, 2024.
