The recall affects approximately 413,151 vehicles. The defect involves a software issue where the rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

This defect fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111 (Rear Visibility). The rearview camera is a critical safety system designed to provide drivers with visibility of the area behind the vehicle during reverse operation.

When the rearview camera image does not display, drivers lose visibility of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of backup collisions, which could result in property damage or injury.

Volvo will address the defect by updating the vehicle software through either a dealer visit or an over-the-air (OTA) update, both provided at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 27, 2025.
