Volkswagen Tiguan rearview camera may fail to display after repair
Volkswagen is recalling certain 2024 Tiguan vehicles previously repaired under recall 25V082 because a camera control unit error at startup can stop the rearview image displaying.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The defect degrades a visibility aid rather than a driving, braking or restraint function, which places it at the risk-of-harm level rather than Severe.
Plain-English summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2024 Tiguan vehicles previously repaired under recall 25V082. The campaign covers eight vehicles.
An error may occur in the camera control unit at vehicle startup, resulting in the rearview camera image not displaying as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, Rear Visibility. A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall applies to owners and operators of the affected vehicles. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on 17 July 2026, and affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov from 27 May 2026.
Dealers will update the camera control unit software free of charge. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298, quoting recall number 91NF.
