Volkswagen Taos fuel pressure sensor may separate in a rear-end crash
Volkswagen is recalling certain 2025-2026 Taos vehicles because the fuel pressure sensor may dislodge from the fuel tank in a rear-end crash, failing FMVSS 301 fuel system integrity.

In the event of a rear-end crash, the fuel pressure sensor may dislodge or separate from the fuel tank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 301, Fuel System Integrity. A fuel tank with a dislodged or separated fuel pressure sensor can leak fuel after a rollover crash, increasing the risk of a fire.
The recall applies to owners and operators of the affected model years. Owner notification letters were mailed on 4 June 2026, and affected VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov from 29 April 2026.
Dealers will install a fuel pressure sensor wiring harness extension free of charge. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298, quoting recall number 97TH.
