Toyota Tundra rearview camera image may not display when reversing
Toyota is recalling certain 2024-2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles with a Panoramic View Monitor because the rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 3 covers risk-of-harm where injury has not yet been reported: a rear visibility aid may not display while the vehicle retains control, braking and propulsion, and no incidents are recorded.
Plain-English summary
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling certain 2024-2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles equipped with a Panoramic View Monitor system. About 161,268 units are potentially affected.
The rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility".
NHTSA states that a rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will update the parking assist ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on March 23, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
