2024 Chevrolet Colorado Recalled for Incorrect Tire Installation

Certain 2024 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles may have incorrect tires installed that don't match the tire label, potentially preventing the tire pressure monitoring system from warning drivers of low tire pressure.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a real safety defect affecting tire selection and tire pressure monitoring systems that could increase crash risk. However, no injuries, crashes, or property damage have been reported. This fits the rubric criterion for 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.'

Plain-English summary

General Motors is recalling certain 2024 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles. The affected vehicles may have incorrect tires installed that do not match the tire label. Additionally, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may provide inaccurate information for the installed tires.

These issues cause the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 110 (Tire Selection and Rims) and 138 (Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems). A tire label that does not accurately reflect the installed tires may result in the installation of incorrectly sized tires during future replacements. The TPMS may fail to warn the driver of a drop in tire pressure. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the tires as necessary at no charge to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 19, 2024. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153). GM's recall number is N242444030.
