Plain-English summary
General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and GMC Sierra 2500 vehicles equipped with a 17-inch spare tire and either 20-inch or 18-inch accessory road tires. The tire-size mismatch prevents the anti-lock braking system (ABS) from engaging properly.
When the spare tire is used with the mismatched road tires, the ABS system cannot independently control the rear wheels. This loss of ABS functionality increases the risk of a crash.
Affected vehicles were manufactured and sold in 2020 and 2021. General Motors estimates 86 vehicles are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 18, 2021.
Dealers will provide a replacement spare tire and install a new spare tire information label at no cost. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is available at 1-888-327-4236.
