General Motors is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles with optional sport terrain tires because their certification labels do not show tire size and cold tire pressure information required by federal safety standards.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is classified as High because it represents a risk-of-harm product—missing tire pressure information critical to vehicle safety—where no injury or crash has been reported. Per the rubric, risk-of-harm situations without reported incidents merit a High severity score.
Plain-English summary
General Motors is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicles factory-equipped with optional 17-inch sport terrain tires. The vehicles have missing tire size and cold tire pressure information on the certification label, violating Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The missing information increases the risk of incorrect tire inflation if drivers are unaware of the proper pressure settings. Overinflated or underinflated tires can increase the risk of a crash.
General Motors will notify owners and mail corrected labels for customers to apply at no cost. The recall began on July 1, 2020. Owners can call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 for details. GM's reference number for this recall is A202304070.
For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
