International commercial trucks recalled for park brake software defect

Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2018-2022 International commercial trucks (including HX, HV, MV, and RH models) due to a software error in the Body Control Module (BCM). The defect may allow the vehicle to overcome the park brake during power-take-off (PTO) operation.
A park brake that fails to hold can allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly, increasing the risk of crashes and injuries. Approximately 4,199 vehicles are affected by this recall.
Owners will receive notification letters starting April 24, 2023. Dealers will update the BCM software free of charge. Owners with questions can contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825, or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
