Plain-English summary
Volvo Bus Corporation is recalling certain 2022 Volvo Bus 9700 vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where Global Positioning System (GPS) devices may have been installed incorrectly.
This incorrect installation can cause an accelerator pedal sensor malfunction, leading to an unexpected loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, a disabled bus may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, which increases the risk of injury to passengers.
Owners will be notified by mail, with letters expected to be mailed on January 31, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2046 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Prevost will inspect and reinstall the GPS devices, if necessary, free of charge.
