Plain-English summary
Volvo Bus Corporation is recalling certain 2024 Volvo 9700 vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the castellated nut securing the steering gear link rod to the steering arm may be loose. This looseness can allow the link rod to detach from the steering arm.
A detached link rod can cause a loss of steering control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repair has been performed.
To correct the issue, Prevost will inspect and tighten the castellated nuts and install new cotter pins as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 22, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Bus customer service at 1-866-870-2046 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
