Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain 2021 International RH and LT vehicles due to a defect in the spring brake chamber. The internal spring may allow the pressure plate to shift and damage the diaphragm, causing an air leak. This air leak can prevent the parking brake from functioning properly, increasing the risk of a crash.
Owners will be notified by mail, with notification letters mailed beginning May 28, 2021. Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the defective spring brake chambers at no cost. Owners can contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 for information about the remedy, or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
