Nissan Recalls Infiniti G37 and 370Z for Power Window Defect

Nissan is recalling certain 2011-2012 Infiniti G37 and 2011 Nissan 370Z vehicles because a programming error in the power window switch may increase the risk of pinch injuries.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where a pinch injury may result, but the source text does not report any actual injuries or illnesses.

Plain-English summary

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 Infiniti G37 Coupe vehicles and certain model year 2011 Nissan 370Z vehicles. The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 2, 2011, and August 29, 2011.

The recall is due to a programming error in the power window switch controller, which was manufactured out of specification. This error results in a higher threshold for the auto-reverse feature to activate than the Nissan specification. If a body part becomes trapped by a closing window, a pinch injury may result.

Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power window switches with new ones free of charge. The safety recall began on December 5, 2011. Owners may contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or Infiniti at 1-800-662-6200.
