Plain-English summary
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2007 Infiniti G35 sedans and coupes. The affected sedans were manufactured from March 29, 2004, through August 25, 2006, and the affected coupes were manufactured from April 1, 2004, through May 30, 2007.
The recall addresses a defect in the wire harness connecting the belt tension sensor and the occupant detection sensor control unit under the front passenger seat. Relative movement of this harness can cause wear and oxidation of the terminals, which may interrupt the signal. In the event of a crash, this interruption may cause the airbag to not deploy, increasing the risk of injury.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on July 12, 2010. Owners may contact Nissan toll-free at 1-800-662-6200 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
