Kenworth trucks display system may fail to show critical warnings
PACCAR is recalling Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 trucks from 2024–2026 because the 15-inch digital display may fail to show warning lights or vehicle speed, increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a structural vehicle defect in the instrument display system that affects critical safety information visibility. While the defect increases crash risk, no injuries or property damage have been reported. This qualifies as a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
PACCAR Incorporated is recalling certain Kenworth T680, T880, and W990 trucks from model years 2024 through 2026. The 15-inch digital display in the instrument cluster may fail to display critical warning lights or vehicle speed information. A total of 18,332 vehicles are affected.
These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 101, "Controls and Displays," and FMVSS 121, "Air Brake Systems." Without visible warning lights and speed information, drivers cannot monitor essential vehicle functions.
An instrument panel display that does not show critical information increases the risk of a crash. Drivers may not be aware of brake system warnings or their actual speed, potentially leading to unsafe driving decisions.
Remedy: Dealers will update the vehicle display software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 27, 2025. Owners may contact Kenworth customer service at 1–425–828–5888 to schedule service. The PACCAR internal recall number is 25PACG.
