Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2024 International LT and RH trucks due to a software issue in the engine control module (ECM). The ECM controls how the engine responds to throttle pedal inputs.
The ECM software may become unresponsive to throttle pedal application. When this defect occurs, the vehicle may unexpectedly slow to idle speed while on the roadway. This sudden deceleration can increase the risk of a traffic crash.
Approximately 770 vehicles are potentially affected. Navistar is notifying owners by mail, with notification letters expected to begin arriving on or after May 26, 2023. Affected owners can contact Navistar's customer service at 1-800-448-7825 for more information, or call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
Dealers will reprogram the ECM software at no cost to owners. Navistar's internal recall reference number is 23509.
