International LT and RH Trucks Engine Control Module Software Issue
Navistar is recalling 2021–2024 International LT and RH trucks because the engine control module may become unresponsive to throttle pedal input, causing the vehicle to unexpectedly slow to idle speed while driving, which increases crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural/functional vehicle defect with a direct risk of harm (unexpected loss of throttle response increasing crash risk). The source does not report any crashes, injuries, or deaths, but the hazard is not merely theoretical—it describes a specific failure mode that creates a known dangerous condition. This meets the criteria for High severity under the vehicle-defect standard.
