What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a missing safety warning label for an inoperative collision mitigation system, which represents a risk-of-harm situation. However, no injuries or incidents have been reported, placing it within the category of risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet occurred.
Plain-English summary
Navistar, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2023 International MV and HV commercial buses, and 2022 IC RE commercial buses, that were built without forward radar units. Without this component, the collision mitigation safety system cannot function. The required warning label that notifies drivers the collision mitigation system is inoperative may be missing from these vehicles.
When the collision mitigation system is inoperative due to the missing radar unit, drivers need to be aware of this limitation. A missing warning label means drivers may not know the safety feature is unavailable, which increases the risk of a crash.
Approximately 45 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owners were notified by mail on June 14, 2022. Navistar will provide a warning label and installation instructions at no charge.
