GM recalls certain 2021 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade vehicles for rear driveshaft assemblies with improperly heat-treated internal components that may fail, causing loss of drive power and increased crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This involves a manufacturing defect in safety-critical driveshaft components that could cause sudden loss of drive power and increased crash risk. No injuries or deaths are reported in the source material. Per the rubric, potential hazards with no reported injuries score at most 3 (High), even when the affected component is safety-critical.
