2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 driveshaft replacement recall

Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2023 IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Genesis GV60 vehicles—approximately 1,165 units. The rear inner driveshaft in these vehicles may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing, which can weaken the component.

A weakened driveshaft may break under load during normal driving. If the driveshaft breaks, the vehicle will lose drive power, increasing the risk of a traffic accident.

Hyundai began notifying owners by mail on March 29, 2024. Dealers will replace the affected driveshaft free of charge. Owners can schedule service through Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460.
