Approximately 52,414 vehicles are affected by this recall, which is an expansion of NHTSA recall 21V-560 (General Motors recall number N212345940). Owner notification letters were mailed on October 1, 2021, and June 23, 2023.

A battery fire increases the risk of injury to occupants, particularly when vehicles are charged overnight indoors. Owners are advised to take interim safety steps: set the Target Charge Level to limit charging to 90%, charge more frequently, avoid depleting the battery to 70 miles of range remaining, park outside after charging, and do not charge the vehicle indoors overnight. General Motors will replace defective battery modules free of charge.
