Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Freightliner Custom Chassis XCL, XCP, XCR, and XCS vehicles, as well as 2015-2019 Custom Chassis XCM vehicles. The recall involves 1,715 vehicles.
The instrument panel brightness on these vehicles cannot be adjusted. This defect may cause glare when driving at night, which can reduce the driver's visibility of the road and increase the risk of a crash. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will update the software and processor, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 1, 2021.
