Mazda Motor Corp is recalling certain model year 2010 Mazda CX-9 vehicles equipped with electrically heated front seats. The recall addresses a defect where the seat heater control circuit may overheat and fail due to insufficient electrical grounding, particularly under extremely cold conditions.

This defect may cause burn damage to the seat cushion surface or create a risk of smoke or fire. Approximately 12,300 vehicles are affected by this safety recall.

Dealers will install an additional ground harness on the seat heater control system and replace the control circuit or repair the seat if necessary, free of charge.
