The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) oversees the safety of more than 15,000 categories of consumer products — toys, baby gear, kitchen appliances, furniture, recreational equipment, electronics, batteries, and most household goods. CPSC excludes anything covered by another federal agency: food, drugs, cars, firearms, boats. If it's something a household buys and uses, and no other agency owns it, CPSC owns it.
Unlike FDA and USDA, the vast majority of CPSC recalls are voluntary corrective actions negotiated between the agency and the manufacturer. CPSC publishes the joint announcement on its press-release feed; that's what The Recall Desk ingests. Hazards skew toward fire risk (especially lithium-ion batteries and small appliances), choking risk for juvenile products, fall risk for furniture and infant carriers, lead-paint violations on imported goods, and recently a rising count of magnet-set ingestion recalls.
The announcement always lists the model number, the date range of affected units, where the product was sold, and the remedy — usually a free replacement, a refund, or a free repair kit. If you bought a recalled product, save the receipt and check the manufacturer's website for the claim form before disposing of the item.

About 300 AR-15 Chamber Lock Pro firearm locks shipped between June 2 and July 15, 2025 are recalled because a manufacturing defect allows them to be forcibly removed, permitting access to the firearm.
About 2.9 million electric motors used in gable- and roof-mounted attic fans are recalled because the safety cutoff may pose a short circuit and fire hazard. The firm has 159 reports of burning or fire; no injuries reported.
About 764,000 Ryobi brushless electric pressure washers are recalled because the capacitor can overheat and burst, ejecting parts forcefully. There have been 41 reported explosions and 32 injuries.
About 3,500 Lulive 12-drawer dressers are recalled because they are unstable if not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards, and they violate the STURDY Act standard. No incidents reported.
About 10,100 Party Favors lite-up torches and mini laser pointers are recalled because their button cell batteries can be accessed easily by children, in violation of mandatory standards. No incidents reported.
About 1,100 CT-ENERGY lithium coin battery chargers, model nc-02, are recalled because the coin batteries can be accessed easily by children and the packaging lacks child-resistance and the warnings required by Reese's Law.
About 12,600 Nimbus Lock Carabiners are recalled because the automatic closing mechanism can break and prevent the gate from closing, posing a fall risk. There are 21 reports of breakage; no injuries reported.
About 6,000 DT Swiss carbon fiber road wheels are recalled because a defect can compromise the wheel's structural integrity, posing a crash hazard. Six reports of carbon layer separation; no injuries reported.
About 1,100 IBC CX-199 and CX-150 combi boilers are recalled because the hot water can exceed the temperature set on the control panel, posing a burn hazard. No injuries have been reported.
Drinkmate 1L Carbonation Bottles are being recalled because they can explode during use. Eight reports include four resulting in lacerations, impact injuries and hearing damage. About 106,200 units affected.
Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel Petite Tea Kettles are being recalled because the infuser basket lid is loose and can fall off during use. Five of ten reports involved burns or scalding. About 40,000 units affected.
Werner 20' and 24' Multi-Max Pro multi-purpose ladders are being recalled because the locking mechanism can jam and not fully lock. Eighteen falls and fourteen injuries reported. About 122,250 units affected.
ESR HaloLock wireless power banks are being recalled because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite. Nine fires and explosions caused about $20,000 in property damage.
Three-tiered spiral children's tower toys are being recalled because the toy contains small balls and is intended for children under three, violating the small ball ban. About 260 units affected.
Electronic LED modules used with floating stairs and rails are being recalled because the module can overheat and melt, posing a fire hazard. About 2,720 units are affected.
Remington brand hair dryers, model D3190DCDN, are being recalled because they lack an immersion protection device, posing a risk of electrocution or shock if dropped into water. About 56,300 units affected.
Firefly Safe & Green 32 oz fuel bottles are being recalled because the nozzle applicator is not child-resistant as required for hydrocarbons, and the fuel is incorrectly labeled "Non-Toxic".
Fieldsheer heated socks are being recalled because they can cause pain and discomfort resulting in burns and blisters. Eleven reports include four burns and blisters. About 45,000 units affected.
Altafit af28 smartwatches are being recalled because the wireless charging pad can overheat and ignite. Thirty-nine reports include six burns to hands and property damage. About 2,900 units affected.
