2025 Nissan Rogue Rearview Camera May Fail Due to Software Error
A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen in 2025 Nissan Rogue and related vehicles while in reverse, reducing driver visibility and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall meets the 'High' criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported. The software error creates increased crash risk by eliminating rear visibility, but no actual injuries or deaths have been reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2024-2025 Nissan Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 vehicles due to a software error in the infotainment system. When a vehicle is placed in reverse, the rearview camera may display a blank screen instead of showing the rear view.
The loss of the rearview camera image reduces the driver's rear visibility and increases the risk of a collision. The recalled vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, which requires rear visibility capability.
Approximately 37,236 vehicles are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 2, 2024.
Nissan will update the infotainment software at no cost to owners via an over-the-air (OTA) update or through a dealer. Owners can contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI customer service at 1-800-662-6200. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline is available at 1-888-327-4236.
