2022-2023 Isuzu N-Series and related commercial vehicles recalled for safety system miscalibration
Certain 2022-2023 Isuzu, Chevrolet, and Hino commercial vehicles with improperly calibrated ABS and optional ADAS camera systems are being recalled. The miscalibration could prevent the automatic emergency braking and electronic steering control systems from functioning properly, increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves critical safety systems (AEB and ESC) that could fail if not recalibrated after frame extension. The source reports no deaths, injuries, or actual incidents—the hazard is theoretical and preventable through the remedy. Per the rubric, a risk-of-harm product with no reported injuries scores as High (3).
Plain-English summary
Isuzu Motors Limited is recalling certain 2022-2023 commercial vehicles, including the Isuzu NQR and NRR, Chevrolet Low Cab Forward (LCF) 5500 and 5500XD models, and Hino S52. The recall was issued after it was discovered that when the vehicle frames were extended to accommodate a 200-inch or 212-inch wheelbase, the ABS module and optional ADAS camera were not recalibrated to account for the extended frame dimensions.
As a result of the improper calibration, the Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB) and Electronic Steering Control System (ESC) may not function properly. This defect increases the risk of a vehicle crash.
Approximately 242 vehicles are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 17, 2023.
Dealers will recalibrate the ADAS camera and ABS module for affected vehicles at no charge. Owners can contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638 for more information, or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
