Plain-English summary
Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2024 LFS buses, including the LFS Artic model. An air leak may develop in the parking brake valve, potentially causing the parking brake to engage without the driver's input.
When the parking brake engages unexpectedly, the bus stops suddenly. The critical safety issue is that this unintended engagement occurs without activating the brake lights, leaving following drivers unaware that the bus is stopping. This creates an increased risk of a rear-end collision.
Approximately 900 buses are affected. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 24, 2024. Nova Bus will inspect and tighten the parking brake air line connections at no charge. Owners should contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682 (recall number CR5615) to arrange service.
