Nova Bus speaker hole doors are missing the glazing DOT mark

Nova Bus is recalling certain LFS transit buses because the driver's speaker hole door may lack the prime glazing manufacturer DOT code mark, breaching FMVSS 205.

What this means for you

Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Our severity reasoning: The defect is an omitted marking on a component, and the stated hazard depends on a future incorrect replacement rather than any present fault, which fits the Moderate band.

Plain-English summary

Nova Bus (US) Inc. is recalling certain 2019-2020 LFS Artic and 2019-2023 LFS transit buses. The campaign covers 197 vehicles.

The driver's speaker hole door may have been built with the prime glazing manufacturer DOT code mark missing. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 205, Glazing Materials. According to NHTSA, a missing DOT code mark may result in the door being replaced with the incorrect type of plastic, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall applies to operators of the affected buses. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on 11 July 2026, and affected VINs will be searchable on NHTSA.gov from the same date.

Nova Bus will replace the plastic panel door free of charge. Owners may contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-450-472-6410, quoting recall number CR5884.
