Plain-English summary
KZRV, L.P. is recalling certain model year 2015 Venom, Inferno, Sportsmen, Sportster, MXT, and SportTrek trailers manufactured between July 1, 2014, and August 31, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with specific aluminum black ladders manufactured by Christianson Industries. The affected ladders feature retractable hinges with a welded 'top hat' component that can separate from the hinge.
If the hinges separate from the ladder while in use, the ladder may fall from the vehicle, which increases the risk of injury to users. The recall covers 318 affected units.
KZRV will notify owners, and dealers will install a hinge brace over the back of the existing hinges at no charge. The recall began on December 16, 2016. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016, extension 154 or 153, or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
