Century Products Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of the non-folding 747 Command high chair. The recall involves approximately 600 units produced between March 1, 1974, and February 28, 1975. These chairs were distributed in Alabama, California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

The hazard exists because the chair could break at the weld joining the metal support column with a metal seat support plate. If this failure occurs, the chair seat and any young child in the seat could fall to the floor. Affected units can be identified by numbers on the back of the plastic seat; only units bearing numbers 7403 through 7412, 7501, and 7502 are affected.

Consumers who have one of these high chairs should stop using it immediately and discard or destroy the product. Replacement high chairs are no longer available. For more information, consumers can contact the company's customer service number at 800-345-4109.
