usOpal Recalls Xalirium Bed Rails Due to Entrapment and Asphyxiation Risks

usOpal is recalling Xalirium Adult Portable Bed Rails because they violate safety standards, posing risks of entrapment, asphyxiation, and falls.

What this means for you

Our assessment, not the agency’s: severity 4/5 (Severe).

The hazard poses a serious risk of illness, injury, or structural failure. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly identifies a risk of death by asphyxiation and serious entrapment hazards, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for significant injury or death risks, even though no injuries have been reported.

Plain-English summary

usOpal is recalling approximately 200 Xalirium Adult Portable Bed Rails. These products feature a white frame with black foam rubber grips and a black fabric pouch. The recall includes only bed rails without vertical bars inside the opening. The product was sold online at Amazon.com from February 2026 through August 2026 for about $60.

The recalled bed rails violate the mandatory standard for adult portable bed rails. When attached to a bed, users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing a serious entrapment hazard and risk of death by asphyxiation. Additionally, the bed rails do not meet structural stability or retention strap requirements, posing a fall hazard, and they lack required hazard warning labels.

No injuries have been reported. Consumers should stop using the recalled bed rails immediately and contact usOpal by email at [email protected] for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to cut the black storage bag and straps, cut the foam padding, write “RECALLED” on the upper and lower bed rails, and send a photo of the marked rails to the provided email address before disposing of the product.
