Adams Manufacturing Corp. is recalling approximately 2,740 Adams Quik Fold Chairs and Quik Fold Café Sets. The recall involves individual chairs and sets sold nationwide at discount department, hardware, and home stores from February 2002 through March 2002. The chairs are made of white, green, or sandstone molded plastic and feature a label on the backrest reading "Adams Quick Fold Chair."
The recall is being issued because some of the legs on these chairs were mis-assembled by the installer, which can cause a piece of the chair to bend out of shape. This defect allows the chair to collapse during use, posing a risk of injury from falls. Adams Manufacturing has received two reports of folding chairs collapsing, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should stop using the folding chairs immediately and return them to the place of purchase to receive a replacement chair or a refund.
