The recall is being issued because Century Products received 31 reports of consumer injuries involving these swings. Most injuries occurred when consumers attempted to open the motor housing or repair swings that had stopped working. If the plastic cover over the swing motor is removed, the powerful, coiled wind-up spring unwinds rapidly and forcefully, which may cause serious injury. Reported injuries include puncture wounds and lacerations that required immediate medical treatment.
The replacement program for these units is no longer available. Century Products and the CPSC warn consumers not to try to disassemble the swing or remove the motor housing.
