Plain-English summary
Century Products Co. of Macedonia, Ohio, is recalling approximately 125,000 Lil' Napper infant swings manufactured between 1991 and 1997. The recall is due to a hazard where the shoulder harness straps can loosen or be unbuckled, allowing an infant to become tangled and strangle.
The swings were originally recalled in 1997 following reports of three deaths and one near-strangulation incident. CPSC and Century have since identified a fourth death involving an 8-month-old infant girl in Texas. The affected swings are identified by model numbers 12-344, 12-345, 12-347, 12-475, or 12-476 located on the bottom of the seat, and feature a Century brand name on the motor assembly.
Parents and caregivers should immediately stop using these swings and discard or destroy the product. The original repair program is no longer available. Century is offering a $30 cash reward to consumers who discard or destroy the recalled swings. For more information, consumers can call Century's customer service number at 800-345-4109.
