dormakaba USA is recalling Stanley Commercial Hardware grade 1 mortise lever lock QMS/QME 100 Series locksets. The recalled products include specific model numbers such as QMS130, QME130, QMS140, and QME140, among others, in various finishes including Bright Brass, Satin Brass, and Oil Rubbed Bronze. The locksets were manufactured by Thase Enterprise Co. Ltd. of Taiwan and imported by Stanley Security Solutions, Inc. and Best Access Solutions, Inc.

The recall is due to a risk that the lockset latch can fail, preventing the door from opening. This poses an entrapment hazard and could prevent occupants from vacating a location during an emergency. The firm has received eight reports of lockset latch failures, but no injuries have been reported.

Approximately 13,500 units were sold in the United States, with an additional 800 sold in Canada and 200 in Mexico. The locksets were sold between December 2013 and June 2018 for between $450 and $650 at retailers including Newport Distribution, CBS Manhattan, Columbus Door Company, and online at Grainger.com. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled locksets and contact dormakaba USA for instructions on receiving a free replacement.
