Approximately 5,000 defective openers may be in consumers' possession. Owners should unplug and disconnect the opener immediately and then discard or destroy the product. Because the company has sold its garage door division, no remedy is available. Continued use of the affected doors in any mode other than manual operation could result in serious injury or death, and failure to unplug the unit may result in an electrical fire.
