IKEA North America Services LLC is recalling approximately 22,000 KRITTER and SNIGLAR junior beds in the United States and 18,000 in Canada. The recall is due to a laceration hazard caused by a metal rod connecting the guard rail to the bed frame that can break in use.

The recalled KRITTER beds are made of pine wood with animal cut-outs and date stamps ranging from 1114 to 1322. The SNIGLAR beds are made of natural beech wood with white painted fiberboard inserts and date stamps ranging from 1114 to 1318. Both models measure about 65 inches long by 30 inches wide. The beds were sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online from July 2005 through May 2013 for between $60 and $90.

There have been two reports of the metal rod breaking, one in the U.S. and one in Canada, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled beds and contact IKEA to receive a free repair kit.
