Salomon USA is recalling Salomon "Quest Touring Pads" and Salomon "Quest Pro Pebax" and "Quest Pro" touring-style ski boots. The recall involves approximately 175 pairs of "Quest Touring Pads" and about 83 pairs of "Quest Pro Pebax" and "Quest Pro" ski boots configured with the recalled sole pads. The sole pads feature visible steel inserts intended to make them compatible with specific "low-tech" touring-style ski bindings.

The hazard exists because the toe portion of the boot pad may unexpectedly release from the touring-style ski binding on a ski, posing a fall or injury hazard to the user. The firm has received one report of injury involving a fractured leg and knee injuries.

These products were sold at eight selected Salomon USA ski boot dealers in Colorado, Utah, Vermont, and Washington from February 2010 through April 2010. The sole pads sold for about $50, and the ski boots configured with them sold for about $750. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled items and return them to any authorized Salomon ski dealer for a refund of their purchase price.
